My name is Vartan Khachaturov and my main interest in writing is more from the perspective of a reader. I'm not an artist but as an English major, I'm very much interested in academic writing, literature, and also literary criticism. I'm also a Secondary Education major so I have a vested interest in writing in terms of teaching philosophy and how we can nurture the writer within the student.
I joined this field because literature has always been my area of study and because I like the idea of teaching, lecturing in front of audiences and interacting with people everyday is thrilling and exciting to me. I also like the idea of living a life of the mind, where I'm always reading and studying.
I guess my main concern in terms of writing has to do with how academic writing seems to be structured around a way of obscuring the truth. It bothers me that I have to literally take classes where we are translating modern english into english because it's almost incomperehensible. Not because it's too intelligent, but simply because it's clouded in BS language. I'm very interested then in discussing these issues in terms of the discourse community.
